5 spots for the perfect first date around Mobile - The Bama Buzz

By Liv George

First dates can be nerve-wracking, and the last thing you need is the added stress of figuring out where to take your potential partner. Lucky for you, we’ve done the thinking for you! Here are five date ideas around Mobile.

The criteria

I’m not just naming bars & restaurants here, I put some serious thought (& possibly some girl math) into these first date picks. So, here’s what I’m looking for:

  • Alcohol is an option, but not a requirement

  • Quiet enough to have a conversation, busy enough to people-watch

  • Enough options to have an indoor & outdoor date idea (you always need a rain plan here!)

Bars & breweries in downtown

POST (where I had my first date with my boyfriend, actually!): craft cocktails with a rotating seasonal menu + small bites.

  • Address: 571 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL 36602

  • Hours: Mon-Thurs: 4PM-12AM | Fri & Sat: 2PM-2AM | Closed Sunday

  • More info: Facebook | Website

Las Floriditas: A Cuban-themed speakeasy in the heart of downtown Mobile. Make sure you check the dress code + get the password from social media.

Oyster City Brewing Co.: lively & family-friendly brewery with an amazing courtyard.

Museums + other historical sites

Mobile Carnival Museum: take your date to learn all about the real birthplace of Mardi Gras, Mobile

History Museum of Mobile: the former site of city hall turned museum is a great, quiet place for a date.
